REDBIRDS FALL BEHIND IN SERIES IN PUERTO RICO

AGUADA, PR – The Plattsburgh Redbirds flew into Puerto Rico and made a statement by defeating the  Explorers on game one but fell short in game two. The  Explorers have  taken the third game of the series and look to capitalize on their series lead.

Adam Falcon got the start today versus Explorers Ace Mike Melendez. Falcon went 5 Innings pitched allowing 5 earned runs while striking  out 5 batters earning the loss. Melendez went the distance going all 9 Innings pitched allowing just 2 earned runs striking out 8 batters. This is the Explorers 3rd Complete game of the season for starting pitchers and they are climbing up the standings.

Terrell Thompson, James Dockery and Cory Slater led the way offensively for the Explorers as they all had multiple hits in this one including a big 2 out double by Cory Slater in the 5th inning to give the Explorers a  gap in their lead and would finish with a total of 6 runs scored.

Although not much offense from the RedBirds, Christian Nazario Cruz and Michael Deeb led the way offensively for the Redbirds as Cruz finished with 2 hits including a double and Deeb added an RBI double himself and a run scored to get the scoring started for the RedBirds.

Adam Falcon is credited with the loss while Mike Melendez earns himself another win tossing a complete game.

The Redbirds drop to  (7-13) while the Explorers improve to (7-11). Both teams will meet again tomorrow at 9:30am for their 4th game of the series in Puerto Rico.
